INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
SCOPE
GENETICS AND BREEDING is a journal designed to cover different
areas of theoretical and applied genetics
(plant, animal, microbial) and relevant subjects. TYPES OF PAPERS
Full papers, brief communications, opinions, comments, criticism,
information of scientific events and reviews (only
by invitation) are published. PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPTS
Manuscripts should be presented in duplicate in English. Two
hard copies and a file in Word 6.0 for Windows format
on 3.5 inch disk should be submitted. Correct language is the
responsibility of the authors. Full length paper should
not exceed 18 pages. Brief communications up to 6 pages and
reviews up to 30 pages are accepted. A standard page is
normally 30 lines x 65 characters. Manuscripts should be subdivided
into the following sequence of sections: Title,
Abstract, Key words, Abbreviations, Material and Methods, Results,
Discussion, Acknowledgements, References. Title. The title should be informative, concise
and without abbreviations. It must be followed by the names
of the
author(s) and their address(es). The address of the corresponding
author should be indicated by an asterisk. Abstract. The abstract should not exceed 250
words. Abbreviations and reference citations should be avoided. Key words. No more than 6 key words may by
given in alphabetical order. Abbreviations. All abbreviations used are to
be given in alphabetical order. Material and methods. This section provides
precise details about the experimental material and the research
methods. Tables. These must be self-explanatory, the
titles being informative enough. Each table should be typed
on a separate
sheet. Illustrations. All figures (drafts and photographs)
must be submitted on separate sheets, numbered on the back in
pensile. The labeling in the figures should be done with letters
or numbers. Photographs of high quality with respect to
contrast and details should be submitted in the desired final
size. Figure legends. These must contain enough information
so that the figures could be understood without reference to
the text. Explanatory notes must be placed in the legends and
not in the figures. Legends of all figures should be typed
on a separate sheet. Units. The International System of Units (SI)
must be used. Latin names and terms. These must be given
in italics. References. References in the text are cited
by author and date (Smith, 1996; Lips and Blank, 1997). If the
authors are
more than two, they must be cited as follows: (Black et al.,
1996). The reference list should be in alphabetical order
including names and initials of the author(s), year of publication,
full title of the article, title of the journal (book),
volume, page numbers, publisher(s) and city (book only).

Proofs. Proofs are sent to the authors to be checked
without delay and returned to the editors as soon as possible.
